Toast toasts toast.
Some comedian brought up how the saying "Guns don't kill people; people kill people" doesn't make sense. He illustrated this by saying, "Cameras don't take pictures; pictures take pictures." Then he continued with a few more to end on an example I have been repeating over and over in my head since the moment I heard it (because I get words and phrases in my head more often than catchy tunes...): "A toaster doesn't toast toast; toast toasts toast." He said toast five times in a row and it made a complete sentence! Ha! He is now my favorite comedian, if only I could remember his name. Speaking of favorites, this photo is my favorite of the 2 of us, to date. Also, while Brock is eating, if I smile or talk to him he gets too distracted to continue eating and will toss his head back and just grin and coo at me; "ah-goo" being HIS all time favorite noise. That is my favorite thing he does these days. My least favorite thing being when he smiles and talks to me at 2am. Though he is absolutely adorable, this means he thinks it is time to be awake and active - not cool Brock, not cool. A few of his other favorite things include: attempting to jump, blowing bubbles with his slobber, pretending to walk on a tight-rope, mirrors/pots & pans/lights/shine-y anything, sucking on his tongue as if it's a piece of hard candy and me.

Proud to be an American
Being born in November, Brock may be one of the most politically well-informed babies out there today. He endured many a "friendly" debate about the candidates between his mother and friends/family as well as every political, and non-political, SNL skit. So it is only natural that he be just as excited about the presidential inauguration as the rest of the nation. Therefore, Brock spent all day tuesday (and wednesday because not enough people got to see it) in his GOBAMA onesie.
Will every post from here on out be centered around my child? I hope I can get beyond this and resume my own identity, but for now, I continue to be obsessed.

Obsessed.
What a whirlwind! I hated being pregnant. I was uncomfortable, physically, from conception to 4 weeks post-partum. I will take 27 hours of labor anytime over 9 months of pregnancy (but unfortunately you must do both to have a baby.) Labor, as expected, was agony. Then, the unexpected emotional rollercoaster post-partum. For a few days after Brock's arrival, I sincerely questioned our decision to add this bundle of joy to our family. But today, and for the past few weeks, all of those negative feelings have washed away. I now see how woman have more than one child. In fact, I am so obsessed with this little boy, I cannot wait to have more! (I think that's why they make 2-year-olds insane, if children were as sweet as newborns we would all be like the Dugger's (who are now 18, no more "one on the way".)) Every noise, face, gesture, movement is adorable, irresistable even. Though I could be productive, I choose to sit and stare into Brock's ever changing eyes. When he sleeps for more than 3 hours during the day, I begin to miss him. So, in response to my constant lament over the past 10 months: "this better be worth it..." - is it ever!
