Growth Spurt

About a week ago, Brock suddenly tripled his food intake and then had a couple 11 hour nights of sleep - I hardly recognize him now. He unquestioningly responds to his name. He crawls everywhere (need to add Baby-proofing the house to my list below). He insists on standing, and has begun attempting to navigate a room by moving from one piece of furniture to another (bumps and bruises, here we come). He has become quite a bit more vocal, and even hums along with me as I sing him to sleep (try keeping a calm, straight face when your little boy does that one...hilariously cute). He says "mumumum" when on the verge of being sad and "dadadada" when content. He finally enjoys his "Johnny jumper" and now [sort of] sits still while being fed. He takes a bath in the porcelain tub instead of that little blue plastic thing. His laugh, and movements have just become more child-like instead of infantile. He is 7 months old today. I love him.

  4. Clean my house.
  5. Work out.
  6. Shop.
  7. Relax.
  8. Cook.

They're all cute for their own reason. I think.

I am convinced the ability to make realistic fart noises is a Y-linked dominant gene. This conclusion stems from extensive data gathered from the Smith family genome. It's all him.

Brock is amused by something different, everyday. Though, I have noticed one factor seems to remain the same; the stupid-er I seem to look or behave, the funnier he thinks it is.

Just a goof.

These videos were all recorded on the 10th, I believe.

It's a Toofer.

A tooth has finally erupted! Brock had been really cranky a couple days before any evidence of the tooth arrived, but is now back to his usual giddy-self. I have really been trying to get him to crawl; he has zero interest. I think we will not be able to hold off the walking very long. Brock is NEVER happier than when he is standing "on his own". When he successfully pulls himself up into the standing position he laughs and squeals. If there is anything with in his reach that is at a slightly higher elevation, he tries to pull himself up on it...pretty amusing. Especially when it is the floppy cross bars made of foam on his floor play gym thing. Good luck with that one, buddy.

Two weeks from today I take my boards! After that, I am a free woman, kind of... for a few weeks anyway. I shouldn't even be on here.

My List

On the radio station I tend to listen to, here in KC (96.5 The Buzz) they have a "My List" segment in the mornings. From the moment I first heard this, I have been trying to decide what mine would be (Criteria = what songs could I leave on repeat, forever.) And here it is, in no particular order:

1. Hurt, Ninch Inch Nails
2. Wishlist, Pearl Jam
3. Blessed, Elton John
4. Mad World, REM's version
5. Clumsy, Our Lady Peace
6. Karma Police, Radiohead
7. Only in Dreams, Weezer
8. Such Great Heights, The Postal Service
9. Winter, Tori Amos
10. Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley

No, niether Eazy E nor Lil' Jon made it. This list could change slightly tomorrow - it's really hard to narrow it down to 10. I think Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Bloodhound Gang, ICP, Beastie Boys, Guster, Ben Folds, Ludacris, Metallica, Fat Boy Slim and Andrew Lloyd Webber deserve a shout out (from me, anyway.)
